I always come to this mountain - the same mountain on every painting - and now I am there with Brais' painting. I need a break. Yesterday I ripped a high quality cover off of one of my magazines and proceeded to paint on its surface. Why ? - Because there is some kind of magic to the quality of the cover when I cover them with oil paint...the surface seems to reflect the oil much stronger than a regular canvas - I don't understand why but I always get a "HIGH' when I paint on this surface. This little painting which I may finish up tomorrow is really a tribute to last weeks photo of the little rock house Kristi photographed.
I can't believe it took me 15 minutes to download this last photo, I need help with this computer. Now I am going to download how I would like this little treasure to be displayed once it is finished. I am able to buy these beautiful silver frames here in Mexico. I love the size of the frame I keep Kristi's photo in and that's the size I want this little painting to have. I think it will look so great on a crendenza (sp?) and that is really how I would like to sell some paintings. I think I can buy this frame for about $30 and ship the painting in the frame. If I asked $100 for the painting - then the frame and shipping -
what do you think - would this be a fair price...?
Hi !
It has taken me 4 tries to make this #$%@ thing work, I am too tired to post a better photo of the painting, I will after I finish in the next day or two. Is anybody out there in INTERNET LAND ??? I would hate to be here all by myself, talking to myself-please say hello.
XOXO

Hi Mom,
Wow, you sure whipped up this latest painting fast! (would that be "whipped together", "whipped out"...?) In any case you whipped together paint ... and put it on the magazine cover *beautifully*!
It was you who showed my this green-tiled roof. Remember? We had visited the antiques shop in st maurice sur eygues and I felt like taking a little walk (we had parked next to a playground. Above the playground was the green-tiled hut (cabano? well?) I would not have noticed it if you had not pointed it out. Thank you for helping me to see it. To see it on your "canvas" (great idea to use the covers!) is a delight.
On my way to tuck in this 3 day old cold. More later.
love,
Kristi
PS: I am so relieved to see that you did not post the picture of me in my big bellied birthday suit, standing next to my five-year-old sister, Pocahontas.

Hi Jules!
How wonderful to find you have a blog full of your beautiful paintings.
I like the purples, violets, and lavenders in the little rock house painting. I wish I could paint! I suppose if I could draw it would help.
I'll figure out how to subscribe to your blog, and comment feed. I've yet to get Kristi's figured out.
I hope things are going well and John is back to work!

Wow Jules! You are certainly a "speedy gonzalies" painter! I am still struggling with my little series while you have just about finished two in a week! Maybe I should throw out my size 0 brush and tryout a palette knife instead?! Did you do this little oil with a palette knife? Looks great and love the colours! Are there any wonderful Mexican scenes you can paint...are the colours really as vibrant in Mexico ( or along the border) as I imagine them to be? Your style of painting certainly fits in with my image of Mexico...full of life!
Have a great day ... Gretel x

Jules...just thinking...if you are selling your paintings on internet maybe it would be better to frame your paintings simply with some cardboard matting (Bainbridge board or similar) then you don't have to worry about the cost and size of a frame which may not always suit the decor of your buyers abode. Postage may be cheaper as well! OK..I am now gone for the day! Cheers, Gretel
